Hoshizaki to Exhibit at HCJ2024 Japan Food Service Equipment Show with Proposals to Customers’ Issues

Products under development exhibited as reference

HOSHIZAKI CORPORATION (Head office: Toyoake City, Aichi; President & COO: Yasuhiro Kobayashi; hereafter “Hoshizaki”) will exhibit at HCJ2024, the 24th Japan Food Service Equipment Show that will be held at Tokyo Big Sight on February 13 - 16, 2024.

The theme of the Hoshizaki booth will be “Innovation for the future.” It will propose solutions to the various problems faced by customers in food-related markets in areas such as work efficiency, kitchen management, and food management. A wide range of products and services will be on display, including the Hoshizaki Connect Wi-Fi service, which began on January 5, commercial refrigerators and ice machines that use natural refrigerants*, and liquid freezers. In addition to the dishwashing system with robotic arm that Hoshizaki is currently developing jointly with Connected Robotics Inc., with which it has concluded a capital and business alliance agreement, the booth will also feature a reference exhibit of a new-model vacuum microwave thawing cabinet.

  • ・Food management: Freshness management, food waste reduction
  • ・Overseas expansion: Support for overseas store openings, Hoshizaki Group’s overseas products and services
  • ●Main products and services to be exhibited
  • ・Hoshizaki Connect Wi-Fi (service for bringing IoT to equipment)
  • ・Commercial refrigerators and ice machines using natural refrigerants
  • ・Liquid freezers
  • ・Thawing Cabinets (warm-air type)
  • ・Dishwashing system with robotic arm (reference exhibit)
  • This is the system that Hoshizaki is currently developing jointly with Connected Robotics Inc., with which it has concluded a capital and business alliance agreement. Replacing part of Hoshizaki’s existing dishwashing system with a robotic arm will achieve space saving, in addition to the system’s labor-saving features.
  • ・New-model vacuum microwave thawing cabinet (reference exhibit)
  • This will be exhibited as reference in anticipation of potential needs for a variety of thawing methods to suit different foods, in line with the growth in frozen food consumption. This thawing system combines microwave heating and vacuum chilling. Vacuum chilling causes ice to sublimate (solid turning directly into gas), reducing dripping of flavor components.
  • ●Cooking demonstrations
  • ・Specific solutions and new businesses will be presented with cooking demonstrations using Hoshizaki products.
  • ・Compact kitchen: Labor saving proposals for very small kitchens
  • ・Food freezing: Speed menu development, takeout and online/mail-order sales responses, etc.

* Natural refrigerants refer to substances that exist naturally in the environment and are used as refrigerants for refrigeration and air conditioning. These eco-friendly refrigerants have an ozone depletion potential (ODP) of zero and a very low global warming potential (GWP). The GWP is a value indicating the potential of a greenhouse gas to warm the earth when the value for carbon dioxide (CO2) is set at 1. According to the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) OzonAction Kigali Fact Sheet 3 (released in 2017), the GWP for isobutene and propane is 3, while the World Meteorological Organization’s (WMO) Scientific Assessment of Ozone Depletion: 2022 (released in October 2022) puts it at <<1 (significantly less than 1).
